John is from New Zealand, and Sophia is from Ukraine. Their love story began in the vibrant City of London, leading them to tie the knot in a picturesque town in Spain. After exploring the world together, they have now settled in the bustling city-state of Singapore. Truly, John and Sophia are citizens of the world, each chapter of their journey filled with adventure and romance.

Their wedding day in Spain was nothing short of magical. Surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of the Mediterranean, they celebrated their love with family and friends, creating memories to last a lifetime. The sun-kissed beaches, the azure waters, and the charming Spanish architecture provided a perfect backdrop for their special day. They experienced the wedding day of their dreams, a harmonious blend of elegance and joy, capturing the essence of their unique love story.

Their wedding day was celebrated at a beautiful villa high on a hill overlooking the beautiful surroundings. The first day of John and Sophia’s wedding. The day of the formalities, while the second day was reserved for a big party with all the trimmings. That’s a New Zealand tradition: the first day is all about the newlyweds, the second day is a kind of ‘thank you’ for all the guests to thank them for coming.” It was a wonderful wedding weekend, with many more traditions.

I have photographed many weddings, but I have never seen newlyweds cut the cake in such a unique way as they did in the Ukrainian tradition. They don't cut the cake—they slam it with a big piece of wood! Luckily, Sophie wore an apron to protect her wedding dress.

One of their traditions involves drinking vodka every time someone makes a toast, after which they shout ‘gorka’ as a signal for the newlyweds to kiss until the shouting stops. There was a lot of ‘gorka’ shouted that day, so staying sober was not an option for them.

Another tradition involved breaking plates together by stamping on them. "The number of shards represents the number of children they are going to have. So, it looks like they will have a lot of children!
